Welcome to The Yoga Floor
The Yoga Floor is a space where you can arrive as you are, put a mat down, and leave a little more resolved. We offer the Original Hot Yoga 26 & 2, a 90-minute sequence known for its profound benefits when approached with patience and consistency.
This practice carries forward a lineage older than the sequence itself, growing out of the Ghosh school of yoga in Kolkata, where physical culture and therapeutic practice were taught side by side on the same floor. The guiding belief was never one-size-fits-all: the same sequence could be prescribed differently for every person who walked through the door, whether they came to build strength or to recover their health and function.

Sanela Hart emphasises this tradition in her delivery of the 26 & 2. She teaches students to manage themselves in the conditions: to honor their true limits before expanding them, to use conscious awareness to release unnecessary stress, and to build resilience in the natural discomfort that leads to growth. These inner skills make every other development in the practice more lasting.
With more than 25 years in this sequence and a lifelong dedication to movement, she guides you to understand your body more deeply, so you can move with greater ease, feel better, and have more choice.
At The Yoga Floor, we encourage curiosity, humility, and, above all, turning up.
Arms.
Body.
Head.
Legs.
the practice
The Original Hot Yoga 26 & 2 is a therapeutic sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises, practised in a heated room. It is likely that you will perspire. Most postures are attempted twice. The first set is usually longer and focuses on developing the foundation of the posture, giving the systems of the body time to adapt. It works as a diagnostic tool, helping you understand what you are doing. The second set tends to be shorter. If the body is ready, you can explore more depth; if you overexerted in the first, you can do less. It is a chance to refine. Between each posture is a resting posture, a chance to pause, regain your breath and composure, and learn to move between action and non-action. Here, physiological and psychological responses can express themselves and resolve through stillness. Stillness is a skill learned over time and, in time, becomes one of your strongest allies in the practice. The practice is challenging at first, until you acclimate to the heat and understand what you are doing. We encourage you to take your time and not push until the body has adjusted. Often, simply being in the room and learning to rest is an intelligent way to approach your early days. You do not need to be flexible, experienced, or particularly good at yoga to begin. The best advice is to get to your mat, lie down, let the practice begin, and do what you can. Repeat. One of the things I value most about 26 & 2 is its consistency. Returning to the same sequence gives you the chance to notice what is changing, what needs attention, and what your body is asking for on any given day. Over time, the practice becomes less about performing the postures and more about understanding your own body. We’ll be here to help you approach it safely.

First-Timers
Welcome to The Floor. Here’s what you need to know before your first class. REGISTER ONLINE Register online, complete your waiver and book your class before you arrive. This helps us keep your first visit simple and smooth. FINDING THE STUDIO The Yoga Floor is at 2 Ken Howard Cres, Nambucca Heads NSW 2448, inside the Spring-Loaded building. The studio is upstairs at the front, above the gymnastics area. PARKING There is shared parking for the building, though availability can vary depending on activity at the other businesses. WHAT TO BRING Bring a yoga mat, a towel for your mat and water. Wear light, comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and sweat comfortably. Shorts, leggings, singlets, crop tops and lightweight athletic tops all work well. HOW TO PREPARE Hydrate well throughout the day before class. Avoid a heavy meal in the hour or two beforehand, but don’t arrive undernourished. If you need something before practice, a light snack such as a banana or smoothie is usually a good option. WHEN TO ARRIVE For your first class, please arrive 10–15 minutes early so we can welcome you, show you the space and help you get settled. The studio doors close when class begins so classes can start on time and without disruption. YOGA ROOM ETIQUETTE Please leave phones with your belongings and keep smart watches silent. Beginners often find the second or third row easiest for following the practice. Keep conversation to a minimum during class so everyone can hear the instructions, focus on their breath and practise without distraction. Questions are always welcome after class. YOUR FIRST 26 & 2 CLASS 26 & 2 is beginner-friendly, but your first few classes can feel challenging while you adjust to the heat and sequence. Your goal is simply to breathe, listen to your body and take care of yourself. There is no expectation that you complete every posture. Sit or lie down whenever you need to rest and remain in the room for the full class so the teacher can keep an eye on you and help you acclimatise safely. If you feel unwell, let the teacher know straight away. AFTER CLASS Hydrate, nourish yourself and rest. The practice becomes more familiar with consistency, so come back when you’re ready. Most students begin to feel noticeably more comfortable after several classes. Enjoy your first class!
A note from Sanela
"My physical discipline began in childhood as a gymnast, which led me into circus arts as an acrobat and trapeze artist. Despite years of physical training and performance, it's yoga that I hold in the highest esteem for teaching me the most about my body and mind. "
Try not to force or outsmart your body. Instead, learn to understand it, and you’ll go far."
